Redbird and Berries Winner and New Wool WIP

Hi everyone -- so very excited to announce the winner of the Grow Your Blog & Redbird and Berries Giveaway.   Thanks again to Vicki at 2 Bags Full for hosting a spectacular Grow Your Blog event. 

My blog certainly grew and I'm thankful for each and every follower (old and new) -- welcome and lets have some fun!!

There were an overwhelming number of entries in the giveaway -- I can't thank you all enough for your generous comments and positive feedback on the "Redbird and Berries Mini Quilt.

Before we get to the winner I wanted to share a new wool design I've been working on for the upcoming Winter Recess Fiber Arts Festival.  The stitching is done but I've yet to quilt, bind and label it for Monday's show -- Gosh I wonder if I'll make the cut ?? 

I wanted to make something springy -- because you know -- I think we've all had enough cold and snowy weather here in the North East...  What do you think ?

 I'm not sure yet what I'll name this design but I'm enjoying the way it's coming together.  Of course I'm always bugging my sisters and husband for their input -- Hope I don't have to pay them by the hour ;)   

Would love to get your feedback on it -- too bright ? just right ? background opinions ?   I'm kinda finding my way with this design work so thanks for any feedback good and bad.

    I like your new design but feel the background fabric competes with your beautiful applique

      Thanks for the feedback on this Jacqueline -- I went back and forth on that background fabric. I think I'll finish it up with a solid border and see if it helps frame and focus the wool applique. I'm torn on it. I do appreciate your honest feedback - keep it comin' Hugs, Karen

      HI Kate! Glad you stopped by - I didn't calculate exactly how many new followers I gained but I think it was more than 50! WOW -- isn't that exciting. The Grow your Blog week paired perfectly with the Redbird and Berries Moda Bake Shop recipe so it was the perfect storm for my blog... Yippee!! I'm thrilled to have everyone here and I love the feedback. We've had two days in the 40's and it is suppose to go back to the 20's daytime and 0 temps at night soon - wishing for spring here too!!     Wow! I'm so happy to have won this starter kit! As soon as I receive it, I'll start to cut, sew and stitch those cardinals and berries. That will push some of my projects down the waiting line but this quilt will for sure add some color to the last weeks of winter. Thank you Karen!

    Love your new kit. The colors are so beautiful and your stitching is exquisite.

    I love everything about your new stitchery, the colours, the design, everything. I haven't done applique with wool fabrics before, and since I have "met" you I have decided to go find some to do. Congrats on your 100th post. Mine was about a week ago, and it was only when I was doing 101 that I realised that I had passed a milestone.

      HI Dasha! Thank you SO VERY MUCH for your comment. Working with wool is so much fun - it moves along quickly and allows you so many choices with threads. I really appreciate your feedback. Now to get it finished up. I'm still not certain about that background but I'm hoping a plain solid border will set things off. Let me know how you make out with your first wool piece.       Hi Carrie -- isn't it funny how we all have different taste -- I struggled with stitching on that background fabric - it was a love / hate relationship ;) Now to get it done and make the final call on it.     Hey great, this has been an awesome help to me, I have had some really strange annoyances in my personal life recently and it is funny how certain things can really pick you back up or make you look differently on the horrible things and get working on the other things in life.     I 'm stopping by through the Sew and Sow blog, which works out great since I meant to comment on your free motion quilting. Those feathers are beautiful! I may try out that bump back method--what I 'm doing now seems to be lacking--haha!
