Testing Quarter Inch Seam Allowance

As documented in my 2014 Moda Bake Shop Redbird and Berries Mini Quilt Tutorial

Measuring Seam Allowance Accuracy:

Note:  Mini Charms are 2.5" square.

A great way to test the accuracy of a scant 1/4 inch seam allowance is by sewing three mini charms together with what you believe to be 1/4" seam allowance.

Once they are sewn together, press the seams while flat and then press seams to one side.

Now flip the piece over and measure.

The middle charm should measure exactly 2 inches wide.  If not, adjust your seam allowance until it does.
